DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE
Welcome to the University Sustainability Centre (USC), the hub of sustainability at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). Our journey reflects UNIMAS’s commitment to creating meaningful change - on campus, in communities and across the globe.
Since our beginning in 2015, what started as divisions for industry and community engagement has grown into today’s USC, a centre dedicated to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Every step of our evolution - from UCTC UNIMAS, to the Community Sustainability Centre, and now USC—has strengthened our purpose: to turn sustainability into action.
At USC, we believe every initiative matters. Whether a local community project or a cross-sector collaboration, our goal is to deliver real impact and foster resilience. Guided by strong governance, innovative partnerships and a clear vision, we strive to position UNIMAS as a leading global university for a sustainable future.
USC operates through three key entities: Bahagian Transformasi Komuniti (BTK), which drives community transformation programmes and service learning initiatives; Bahagian Kelestarian (BK), which champions sustainability practices and governance within the university and Qadim Hub, a UNESCO Knowledge for Change (K4C) Centre dedicated to community-based participatory research (CBPR) and global knowledge exchange. Together, these units ensure USC delivers holistic impact across community engagements and sustainability initiatives.
We invite you to join us - students, staff, partners and communities in shaping solutions and creating opportunities that contribute to a better, more sustainable tomorrow. Together, we can transform ideas into actions that make a difference.
